Professional Diploma in Architectural Studies (PDAS)
The series of programmes provides students with essential knowledge and skills related to design, building technology and professional practice, and produces pre-professional graduates capable of working in the industry or pursuing further studies.

The programme utilizes special studio facilities exclusively for HKU SPACE architectural studies students. The programme also includes lots of exiting outside-classroom activities such as building and site visits and project research.
Certificate in Hong Kong Architecture Practice
The programme covers the statutory and non-statutory controls affecting landuse, density, form and design of the city and its buildings. Building contract and ethnical obligations will also be introduced. It consists of 28 lectures and 2 written examinations.

Materials Exploration Series - Wearable 3D Paper Structure
Paper with its versatility can be a plane surface or a structure, flat or three-dimensional, plain or textured, monotone, coloured or patterned…endless diversity and characteristics for exploration and creativity.
This course explores paper as a structural and form-making element by recycling ‘used paper’ from old books and transforming it into small sculptural objet d’art.

Higher Diploma in Architectural Studies (HDAS)

This programme provides you with essential knowledge and skills relating to building and spatial design, building services, construction technology and professional practice in architecture. Graduates may progress to undergraduate programmes offered by local/overseas universities or enter into a career in the building industry and other allied professions.

Building Codes 101 for Architects
This course covers in detail all aspects of statutory control for the design, construction and completion of buildings in Hong Kong.

The principles, practices and application of the building codes, including the Buildings Ordinance, Building Regulations, Codes of Practices and the Practice Notes for Authorized Persons will be extensively discussed and explained.

Candidates for the Architects Registration Board/ Hong Kong Institute of Architects Professional Assessment who received their professional education overseas and others interested in learning about local building codes are welcome.

Certificate for Module (Philosophy and Practice of Sustainability in Architecture)
There is growing demand for more integrative understanding and holistic management of sustainable development challenges in both public policy making and business strategy development in Hong Kong.
The programme aims to equip students with advanced knowledge in the development of sustainability principles and the current practice of measurement tools used for assessing sustainability of building design and construction in Hong Kong.

Introduction of BEAM Plus Assessment

BEAM Plus is the prevailing Green Building Rating tool in Hong Kong. It is a comprehensive assessment covering wide range of subjects with the objective to enhance sustainable building performance.

Construction market in Hong Kong has changed. Hong Kong government has taken a leadership role to achieve BEAM Plus Gold rating in all major projects. In private sectirm the Government has also provided GFA concession for porject achieving BEAM Plus standard. The number of BEAM Plus is highly valuable.

This is a training course aims at equipping students to have practical understanding of BEAM Plus assessment, and ability to manage and contribute to BEAM Plus assessment project. Lectures and case studies will be provided.
