Mr. Alvin Wong

Mr. Alvin Wong, is an architect and interior designer, studied in California and now living in Hong Kong, currently working as a project manager. He is the co-founder of Urban Sketchers (USk) Hong Kong. He led USk Hong Kong on 4 group exhibitions and had his own exhibition “Spotlight in Penang at Fringe Club Hong Kong” in 2015 together with Ch’ng Kiah Keang. He led over 30 sketchers recorded the umbrella movement social event with their sketches, later published the book “Sketches under the Umbrellas, Hong Kong 2014”. His travelogue sketches has been publishing online and very well receive by the public.
He has been giving sketching workshops, classes and lectures in local universities and international sketching communities. He is a well known urban sketcher participated in Sketching George Town 2 at Penang 2014, USK Symposiums in Singapore, Manchester and Chicago and USk Asialinks.. He is serving as membership committee,and symposium organiser for international Urban Sketchers since 2015 .

Mr. Atul Kansara

Atul previously served as Design Director for HOK International (Singapore) and Senior Project Designer at TFP Farrell’s Hong Kong where he gained valuable, extensive professional experience locally in Hong Kong and various market sectors globally.
His professional experience in the field of architectural design spans over two decades in the Asia Pacific region with world-class architectural practices leading architectural teams on all phases of design from initial concepts, client delivery, through to construction.
The scale and variety of projects range from very large-scale master planning design proposals, civic, mixed-use developments to individual, iconic buildings and luxury private residences.
Outside of professional practice, Atul has been active in teaching at tertiary level as studio design tutor, lecturer and as student mentor, managing core teaching activities within the design studio, communicating and connecting students with industry leaders and prestigious architectural firms thus maintaining vital links between practice and academia since 2011.
He has also actively participated in student workshops, student design competitions and supervised student research writing for final year dissertations.
Atul is currently adjunct assistant professor teaching architectural design at Chu Hai College of Higher Education and is regularly invited as guest critic for student presentations, educational design workshops and has helped extensively with promoting student talent in collaboration with local artists.

Mr. Bryan Chan

Mr. Chris Chan

Chris is Project Director and Head of Hong Kong studio at Buro Ole Scheeren and a registered architect in Australia. He has collaborated with Ole Scheeren on numerous projects since joining Buro-OS. Chris and his partner interest in experimental exercises and observation during design process. Cross disciplines investigation could always the device for them to generate new species; Issues within the architectural realm of Morphology, Socio-Culture & Sustainability are investigated and experimented within the research sections to re-define the conceptual and the contemporary framework of urban and architectural design. Their think-tank delves deeply into socio-economics, culture and identity, exploring new prototype and approaches for future, whilst engaging in the factual domain simultaneously.
Chris was educated in both Hong Kong and Melbourne. His projects have been exhibited in Hong Kong & Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism in 2008 and 2019. Chris was also recognized as one of the Australia’s Top 40 Design Graduates by Monument magazine in year 2005. He taught in the master’s program at RMIT University, Australia in 2009
Chris Leading several prestigious projects throughout Australia, Middle East and China, Chris’s portfolio includes master-planning, super high-rise, hospitality, commercial offices, a museum, retail and residential. The quality and creativity of his of work has contributed to several significant landmark developments. Prior to collaborate with Ole, he was design leader for Lab Architecture Studio (Melbourne) focus project in Asia. His projects with Lab included, Federation Square ACMI extension, Melbourne Australia, The Golden Eagle International Plaza in Nanjing. which was shortlisted in World Architecture Festival in 2018. Mr. Daniel Cheung

Daniel Cheung (HKIA, RAIA, Registered Architect, AP(List 1)) is a Registered Architect in Hong Kong with over 25 years of experience. After graduating from HKU in 1991, he worked for P&T Architects and Engineers Ltd from 1992 till 2001. He was one of the Founding Principals of Architecture Design and Research Group Ltd (AD+RG) and Centre of Architectural Research for Education, Elderly, Environment and Excellence Ltd (CARE). Cheung specializes in institutional architecture, facility programming and community engagement. He has been involved in numerous award winning projects and various community projects promoting architecture to the public. He was one of the awardees of The Ten Outstanding Young Persons 2005. He stepped down from his architectural practices in 2009 and ventured into the business fields. His current business portfolio covers investments, jewellery and catering etc. In recent years, Cheung continues the pursuit of his interests in architecture through teaching part-time at HKUSPACE.

Mr. Dino Paul Ip

Dino Paul Ip achieved both his Master of Science in Multimedia & Entertainment Technology and Bachelor of Arts in Photographic Design from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Other than as a professional photographer, he also focuses on multimedia production and teaches in different higher education institutions. His creative works have been published, broadcasted and exhibited in Germany, China and Hong Kong. Also, he was honored twice with the photo awards from Hong Kong Institute of Professional Photographers.

Mr. Edmond Wong

Outstanding Teacher Award
Edmond was trained in the U.K. under a founding member of the Archigram. After working in the private and public sectors he joined the Architectural Studies subject group in 2008 as program manager and tutor for the top-up degree and higher diploma. He is also committed to the training of computational design in architecture, product, jewelry and industrial design.
In 2015 he crafted HKU SPACE to be the first Authorized Rhino Training Centre in Hong Kong to offer official training in Rhinoceros and, subsequently, the first Grasshopper Certificate course delivered to the public. In parallel to teaching the Architectural students, Edmond also enjoys the pedagogy of students from diverse design backgrounds and brands. Cross boundary blend of students stretching from architects of P&T, L&O and designers of Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Samsonite and Pandora, etc. denotes the boundlessness of design and provide impulse for him in continuing to explore new possibilities in [shifting] design paradigm and methodology.
Edmond was honored with and modestly received the Outstanding Teacher Award in 2020 which he dedicates to the Programme Team, family and especially his father in heaven.

Mr. Edward Leung
MSc(Conservation) HKU, HKIA RA, BScArc(Dist) University of Manchester
Mr Edward Leung is both a practicing architect as well as being an academics who teaches subjects of heritage architecture. His experience in conservation design includes the Comix Home Base in Wan Chai which attained the HKIA Medal of the Year Award 2014. He is the current Chair of Heritage and Conservation Committee of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects. His recent year research focus on Chinese vernacular architectures in the urban context. His researches had been presented in conferences in overseas, in mainland, as well as in Hong Kong.

Mr. Enrique Moya-Angeler

Enrique Moya-Angeler is a registered architect with an interdisciplinary education in Architecture, Structure Engineering and Interior Design. He possesses a professional Master’s degree in Science in Advanced Architectural Design from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) at Columbia University in New York. He previously earned a Master & Bachelor Degrees in Architecture and Structure Engineering, from the School of Architecture (ETSAM) at the Polytechnic University of Madrid in Spain. He has been teaching in Hong Kong, New York, Madrid and Mexico. After working for international renowned firms in New York (STEVEN HOLL and SOM), Rotterdam (MVRDV), and Madrid (EDUARDO ARROYO), he founded his own practice. Born in London, raised in Boston, Paris and Madrid. He is trilingual in English, French and Spanish.

Mr. Eric Tong

Eric Tong graduated from The Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL. He worked for renowned architects Zaha Hadid and Future Systems before founding studio Eravolution. His work won multiple international awards, including the Perspective “A&D Trophy” Awards in “Best Furniture”, “Best Green Product”, and the “40 Under 40” Award of which he is celebrated as one of future’s most influential designers. In 2016 he was awarded “Best Design Educator” from the Hong Kong Designer Association. Eric is a Council Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects Hong Kong Chapter, and an Executive Committee Member of the Hong Kong Designers Association.

Mr. Fung Kwong Ming

Mr. Fung Kwong Ming is a lecturer for the architectural model making classes. He has been part of the HKU SPACE faculty since the founding of the Architecture program in 1999. Mr. Fung has been practicing architectural model-building for over 30 years, and he particularly enjoys turning things from two-dimensional (plans / graphs) to three-dimensional (models). He is the co-founder and director at OMB (Office for Model Building) Limited. He also serves as a Consultant for the Hong Kong Police Force’s Briefing Support Unit. Mr Fung specializes in producing diversified architecture models, ranging from commercial / residential premises marketing displays, competition designs, and mechanical / interactive models.

Mr. Hayger Chan
MArch, RMIT
Hayger was practicing in Beijing and Shanghai after graduation.
He came back to Hong Kong and joined OMA's Hong Kong office.
As a believer of "Knowledge was meant to be shared", during the practice, the determination of sharing was getting stronger every day.
"The way an architect works is for everyone."
With that idea, he had left OMA and chose to become a barista to share the design thinking over the coffee time.
It is Hayger's honor to teach the AD1 at the alma mater.

Mr. Holger Kehne

Mr. Hubert Un

Hubert Un is an architect practicing in Hong Kong, with past experience in London, New York, Boston and Vancouver.
He received a Bachelor degree from the Bartlett School of Architecture in London, England; and a Master degree in Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg, USA. During his internship, he has worked for distinguished architectural firms: Cedric Price in London; Sert Jackson & Associates in Boston; Edward Durell Stone in New York and Hemingway Nelson in Vancouver.
He became a Registered Architect, a Certified Professional and a Project Management Professional in British Columbia, Canada, where he was residing and where he started his architectural practice in 1994. After his move to Hong Kong in 1996, he became registered as an architect in Hong Kong as well and continued his architecture and interior design practice there. His projects have been featured in newspaper and magazines.
In addition, Hubert is active as an educator. He was an instructor at the University of British Columbia; Assistant Professor at University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is currently an assistant professor at Chu Hai College of Higher Education teaching architectural design.

Mr. Iker Mugarra Flores

Iker Mugarra Flores studied architecture at the AA in London and has collaborated with a variety of architects and studios, focusing in holistic and associative approaches in large and small-scale projects that integrate advanced geometries and parametric logics, space optimization and architectural design, integrated design engineering, prototyping, detail engineering, fabrication and environmental strategies.
Iker was part of CLOUD9_ Enric Ruiz Geli studio as a project architect and also collaborated and taught at the IAAC - Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (Barcelona). In recent years, Iker worked at Newtecnic as an associate leading the Façade engineering Package of The Grand Theatre of Rabat by Zaha Hadid among many other international high-profile projects. During this period, he also ran, in parallel, the computational and media courses at The Bartlett/UCL, B-Pro: March Urban Design-Morphogenesis Lab Courses (London) as tutor and computational consultant (2013-2015).
Recently, Iker was Architect/Associate at UNStudio Asia. He worked for over two year on the West Kowloon Cultural District – Lyric Theatre Complex from Design Stage (RIBA-Stage3) until early Construction Stage (RIBA-Stage5). He was responsible of the theatre´s technical Package, Architecture, Advance Geometries, Digital Workflows, BIM and site team & Site office resources management.
Currently Iker is founder and Principal of Spatial Holistic Assemblies Ltd. (SHA), based in Hong Kong. SHA provides support and consultancy for complex design works that required integrated design engineering for buildability, optimization and value engineering; providing support from concept to construction, delivering a more robust tender packages and to facilitating complex constructions to reduce liability and risk.

Mr. Johnny Wong

Johnny Wong founded the award winning boutique design studio “FAK3”, focusing on unique developments in the field of Interior and Architecture. Wong graduated with a Masters of Architecture and Interiors at the Royal College of Art, and has also attended Kingston University and Winchester College of Art in England. In parallel to practicing, he is committed to teaching and nurturing the next generation of designers.

Mr. Kan Chan
RIBA MHKIUD HKIA (associate); March BAAS (1st Hon)
Kan is the Head of Architecture in JLL, a RIBA Chartered Architect, based in Hong Kong. His works have been exhibited and published by ACAU and ARCASIA in the Asian Region, UCL in the UK, HKU and HKIA in Hong Kong and many others. He has been invited by the Venice Biennale GAA Foundation for exhibition in Venice since 2016. His Masters' thesis was nominated for RIBA president awards.
Prior to the setup of his studio, Kan worked in Aedas and Oval Partnership, and was a project and design director of a private developer focusing in East Africa region for which Kan was responsible for all design and construction works. Projects designed and executed in China, Hong Kong, Africa and the UK, Kan’s architectural design and planning experience includes transit-orientated developments, master-planning, retail, residential, education and interior architecture.
Internationally, the “Skypark” project in Luxembourg, jointly led by Kan, was awarded WAFX winner in World Architecture Festival. In Hong Kong, the consortium jointly led by Kan won the competition for the HKIA premises renovation, highlighted in the HKIA 65th anniversary exhibition and publication.
Kan has been awarded 40 under 40 by Perspective Global and the Youth Leader in Greater Bay Area by JCI. In 2022, Kan is appointed as Programme and Development Committee in the Culture,Sports and Tourism Bureau. He has taught in CUHK, CityU and HKDI in HK and Makerere University in Uganda.

Mr. Nick Chan

Nicholas Chan graduated from McGill University in Canada and became a member of the Ordre des architectes du Quebec and Canada Green Building Council in 2009. Born in Hong Kong and raised in Montreal, where the Canadian city was officially designated a UNESCO City of Design in 2006, Nick developed his fluency in Cantonese, Mandarin, English and French and his unique design flair which allow him to get involved in a multitude of projects across the globe.
With over 10 years of international experience accumulated in design, management and construction, projects led by Nick are found in China, Hong Kong, India, Dubai, Qatar, Brazil, France and Canada.
Nick is currently responsible for the design and management of China projects at an international architectural design practice in Hong Kong, and works closely with local developers and government agencies; his designs cover transit-oriented, mixed-use, residential, hospitality, civic, cultural and renovation projects.
Nick has developed his enthusiam in teaching in Canada and pursued this interest after his return to Hong Kong. Nick is currently a lecturer and project supervisor for interior design and architectural design studios at different institutions in Hong Kong.

Mr. Paul Mui

Paul is an Architect registered in the UK and HK. He graduated from the HKU with 1st Class Honors, Dean’s List and AIA Scholastic Award then from the AA in London with an High Pass in technical thesis.
Paul has 14 years of local and overseas professional experience with expertise in complex geometries and mega scale infrastructural projects. Previously he worked for KPF London and Aedas Ltd. His projects include Abu Duhbi Airport, XRL West Kowloon Terminus, Queen Mary Hospital redevelopment and Zhuhai Macao Bridge Border Crossing Facility.
Paul has won over 25 competition awards including the 1st prize in HKBCF Design Competition and the recent 1st prize in the Design your Airport Competition.
Paul is an Assistant Professor (PT) in HKU architecture and a Lecturer (PT) in HKUSPACE and HKDI. He also holds workshops and gives lectures in other universities and professional institutes around the world. His research and design works have been reported and published extensively by international media such as CNN, NY Times, Reuters, BBC and SCMP.
Paul recently discovered his interest in Aquascaping and started experimenting with his 6-gallon tank at home.

Mr. Ricky Suen
AA Dipl; RIBA; ARB(UK); Registered Architect (UK)
Ricky Suen is a registered architect in the UK. He is a partner at aona, an architecture design practice established with Charles Lai. The practice focuses on experimentation of interior/architectural/urban concepts, design methodology, architecture typologies and adaptive-reuse strategies. Ricky has 12-year of solid architectural and urban design experience and executed a wide range of scales and typologies, including competitions, infrastructure, mixed-use, cultural facilities in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Southeast Asia, Australia and the Middle East. Prior to aona, he was a Senior Architect at OMA, he led competitions and commissioned projects in the Asia Pacific. He taught architecture and urban design studio at varies institutes such as the University of Hong Kong, HKU Space Architecture and PolyU SD and as external design critic in varies institutes including CUHK and HKDI. Ricky was graduated from the Architectural Association in London with an AA Diploma, holds an Advanced Diploma (Dist.) and Chartered Membership from the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Mr. Slobodan Radoman
BA(Arch) Harvard College; MArch, Cert(Urban Design) MIT
Slobodan Radoman is a founder of the design practice RADDAR based in Hong Kong, with projects ranging from branding and interior design, to residential and office architecture projects and master plans. Current project sites are in China, Ghana, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Montenegro, Vanuatu and USA. Prior to establishing RADDAR Slobodan worked for six years at OMA’s offices in Rotterdam, NYC and Hong Kong, where he led architectural and urban design projects, from competition to detail design stages. Other professional stints include works for I.M. Pei (NYC), Odile Decq (Paris), Dominique Perrault (Paris), Benedetta Tagliabue (Barcelona). Slobodan left his native country Montenegro to complete an International Baccalaureate high school in the UK, UWC of the Atlantic, upon which he enrolled in Harvard College to complete a BA in Architecture degree, followed by a Master of Architecture degree and a Certificate in Urban Design at MIT. He is a recipient of several academic scholarships and fellowships including the Fellowship at MIT’s Legatum Center of Entrepreneurship.
Slobodan has experience teaching at MIT as teaching assistant; in Barcelona’s Institute for Advanced Architecture he lead MIT’s competition team for the Solar Decathlon in 2009. In Hong Kong he is a lecturer at Chu Hai College and at Hong Kong University Space Architecture. His current research focuses on peripheral urban zones and countryside, where he seeks opportunities for participatory design interventions. Slobodan is an active member of Hong Kong’s amateur basketball leagues. He speaks fluently Montenegrin, Spanish, Italian, and has an intermediate understanding of French.

Mr. Tony Chan

Tony Chan is a specialist in sustainable design, energy / carbon management and corporate sustainability. He is passionate about environmental protection and energy conservation. He studied Renewable Energy and Architecture at University of Nottingham and has extensive experience in providing recommendations to customers on microclimate designs, energy efficiency applications and sustainable built environment optimizations. He gave several guest lectures in universities and is currently a part-time teacher in HKUSPACE.
Tony holds a variety of professional credentials including Member of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (Building Services and Energy Disciplines), U.S. LEED Accredited Professional, UK Chartered Engineer, Member of The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, Registered Energy Assessor, BEAM Professional and Certified Member of Environmental Management Association of Hong Kong.
Aside from his professional pursuits, Tony is an addicted badminton player and singer. Also he is trying his best to make a better and greener world. He believes it can be done by spreading messages to positively affect the others, especially the youngsters who are our future.

Mr. Tony Leung

Tony Leung is a UK-registered Architect graduated from the HKU, Architectural Association (AA) and University College London. He founded URB in 2002 after practicing in London and Hong Kong. His projects encompass different fields of design from architecture to interiors, furniture and product. Many of his projects have been awarded and exhibited internationally.
Over the past 18 years Tony has been teaching design studios and lecturing at different institutions in Hong Kong including HKUSPACE, PolyU, CUHK and HKDI.

Mr. UNG, Wai Lun Norman

Vernacular Architecture - Research on local culture and design
Norman is a co-founding partner at Design Eight Five Two (DEFT), a design studio operating in Hong Kong and Manila. He grew up in Hong Kong and completed both his Bachelor of Architectural Studies and Master of Architecture at The University of Hong Kong, and a Registered Architect with HKIA,
Norman has a background in hospitality, residential, and commercial design, contributing to various projects that include both interior and architectural design. His interests often focus on the cultural aspects of a place, exploring how local architecture influences design.
In his academic work, Norman has engaged in studio topics like "Learning from Hong Kong Cinema: In Search of a New Vernacular for Cinema" and "Exploration of Materiality: Research on Hardware Shops in Tai Kok Tsui & Mong Kok" with his studio at HKU Space, both of which examine the relationship between local culture and design thinking. He has also worked with Professor Lung on the course "In Search of Vernacular Architecture" at HKU and on the EdX platform.

Mr. Yip Chun Hang

Hang is a HK registered architect and an Authorized Person. After graduating in 2004, Hang spent his first eight years of his career working as both an architect and contractor. The unique skills and experience including the attention to material and details influence his design approach. In 2013 he co-founded LAAB, a laboratory for art and architecture dedicated to spatial innovations that cultivate communities and sustain environments. From public space and public art to architecture and interior, Hang excels as the architectural director of the collective of architects, designers, engineers, makers, and sociologist, with dedication to work together with forward-thinking clients and collaborators to bring visionary ideas to life.
A UC Berkeley and HKU alumni, Hang was honored by the “HKIA Young Architect Award” in 2014. Currently he is the architectural team leader of several proejcts such as the HK House for Echigo Tsumari, T-cafe at T Park, f22 and Kaleidome. These projects had reached global design communities, with recognition from Japan Good Design Award Best 100, German Red Dot and iF Awards, as well as American Institute of Architects International Region Awards. Hang had lectured architecture and design at CityU and HKDI.
He is also a plant enthusiast and seeks to integrate sustainability into LAAB's projects.

Ms. Soraya Somarathne

Soraya is a UK registered architect. Since graduating from The Bartlett, University College London, Soraya spent six years working for Foster + Partners in Hong Kong. During this time Soraya helped to develop design strategies which optimised the operational and commercial performance of a number of existing buildings. Soraya was part of the design team which transformed The Murray, a Hong Kong listed government office, into 5-star boutique hotel. Soraya went on to lead the refurbishment of The Fleming Hotel in Hong Kong, which saw the regeneration of a fading 3-star business hotel into a boutique travel destination. In 2017, Soraya set up Studio Soraya Limited, an architecture and interior design studio based in Hong Kong. With a strong foundation in adaptive re-use and its impact on minimising waste, pollution and carbon emissions, Soraya has been developing her practice in design strategies for urban regeneration and sustainable living.
Studio Soraya’s award winning projects include Grassroots Eco-Home, an eco-friendly housing solution in remote and rural locations in China. In Grassroots Eco-Home, Soraya combined BCore, a carbon neutral construction material with plant and soil growth. In 2018, Studio Soraya was awarded 1st Prize for a proposal to repurpose disused 16th Century farms in Italy. This proposal was praised for its potential to protect heritage and the surrounding environment, whilst reviving the local textile and tourism industries.
