Mona graduated from the University of Manitoba in Canada with the Bachelor of Environmental Studies and the Master of Architecture degrees. Her move to Hong Kong marked the beginning of her professional career development. She interned at an international practice with involvement in numerous prestigious projects, and became a Registered Architect and an Authorized Person (List of Architects) in Hong Kong. Pursuing her interest in teaching and research, she joined the University of Hong Kong’s School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE) in 2001 and was honored with the Outstanding Teacher Award in 2009. Aside from her current position as Senior Programme Director of Architecture in the College of Humanities and Law, HKU SPACE, she also teaches the course, Principles and Practices of Building Codes for the Department of Architecture, University of Hong Kong in the capacity of part-time Assistant Professor. Mona is an active member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, currently serving on the Board of Educational Affairs and the Professional Assessment Review Committee. She is an Appeal Board Panel member under the Town Planning Ordinance for the HKSAR government and an External Examiner for the BEng Architecture (Hon) RIBA Part 1, University of Nottingham, Ningbo. She is a water sports enthusiast, retired from competitive dragon boat racing, she now enjoys SUP, kayaking and wave surfing.
